Avista planned power outage in Helmer, Bovill and Elk River

June 8, 2026

Spokane, Wash. June 8, 2026: Approximately 625 electric customers will experience a planned power outage on Wednesday, June 17. Avista customers east of Deary will be impacted in the towns of Helmer, Bovill and Elk River. The planned outage will start at 11:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18. All affected customers will be notified in advance. 

Lane closures are possible during the outage timeframe on Highway 8. Traffic control will be in place

During this time, Avista crews will perform maintenance and repairs on equipment damaged by the recent windstorm in the area. This work is essential to reduce wildfire risk, strengthen system reliability, and help prevent future outages for the community.
